Testing Capacity

Hospitals

Reminder

Premier Ford Calls for More Tests!
Today at a press conference, Premier Doug Ford stated that the amount of tests being conducted in the province is “unacceptable”.
We have the ability to do 13,000 tests a day, and there’s no reason we can’t do that. I want to see every frontline worker tested. We owe it to them. It’s common sense. The more people you test, the better the numbers are going to be. We need to do it immediately...starting tomorrow.
“There will be no more excuses, it’s unacceptable. I’ve made myself loud and clear to the CEO of Ontario Health, I’m going to be on this thing like a dog on a bone. When South Korea flattened the curve and when Germany flattened the curve…the tested, tested, tested and we’re going to do the same.”

We Will Keep Building Critical Infrastructure like Hospitals and Faster!

Today, Premier Doug Ford announced new measures to make sure we keep building hospitals and other critical infrastructure as fast as possible to combat COVID-19. In response to the outbreak of COVID-19, Ontario is extending construction hours for essential construction projects, like critical projects in the health care sector, to 24 hours a day. Work on new hospital builds, expansions, and COVID-19 assessment centres will be able to continue any time of the night or day in order to help accelerate the construction of these important projects and enable employers to take additional steps to protect the health and safety of workers on these job sites.

We are manufacturing our own PPE
Ontario received 10,000 donated Level 3 masks, the first supply of personal protective equipment produced right here in the province by the Woodbridge Group. Together with the Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association, there has been unprecedented pace to retool their factories and get the required approvals to manufacture masks for our front-line workers. I was thrilled to see first-hand the fruition of their hard work and look forward to them ramping up production in the coming days to meet the demands of Ontario and soon other parts of the country
3M and the U.S. Government reached an agreement to ensure N95 masks can be shipped into Canada。

Reminder!
This week, Friday and Monday are considered holidays so please plan accordingly.
All Ontarians should stay home unless absolutely necessary for essential reasons, such as such as accessing health care services, shopping for groceries, picking up medication, walking pets when required, or supporting vulnerable community members with meeting essential needs. If you must leave your home, stay at least two (2) meters apart from others.
If you think you may have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has it, first self-isolate and then use Ontario's Self-Assessment Tool to see if you need to seek further care.
Take these everyday steps to reduce exposure to the virus and protect your health: wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer; sneeze and cough into your sleeve; avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth; avoid contact with people who are sick; and stay home if you are sick.
